New Knockbain Councillor Elected

A CHARLESTON man has been voted in as a new councillor for the Black Isle ward of the Highland Council.

Gordon Adam’s fellow ward members will be the SNP’s Craig Fraser and Independent Jennifer Barclay, both sitting councillors.

Former councillors Isobel McCallum and David Alston did not stand for election.

Mr Adam, representing the Scottish Liberal Democrats, helped set up the eco-friendly business, Black Isle Yurts, which is run by his son and daughter

After starting his journalism career with Radio Scotland, he ran BBC World’s Afghan Service in London. More recently his work has been in international development, setting up media projects in places like Afghanistan, Nigeria and Botswana.

Knockbain Community Council welcome Gordon to his new position and look forward to working with him along with Craig and Jennifer.  Our thanks are also given to retiring councillors Isobel MacCallum and David Alston for their hard work and support over the years, and we wish them well in their retirements.
